April 4th – Claret Punch

I don’t know about you, but I’m not sure I’d call this dessert?! – definitely not one to give the children!

1 Lemon

1 Cup White Granulated Sugar

2 Cups of Claret or similar Red Wine

1 Bottle of Soda

1/2 Cup of Pineapple Syrup – if desired

Squeeze the juice from the lemon, cut up the rind and cover with the sugar. Leave to stand for 1/2 an hour. Mix until sugar is dissolved and add one cup of claret. Leave to stand for another 1/2 hour. Add pineapple syrup if desired and soda. Sweeten to taste and serve very well chilled.
